Where is the YWAM Headquarters?

YWAM has no central headquarters, rather is decentralized which means that each base or location has its own local leadership.  These bases are given oversight by the Global Leadership Team and other Regional leadership teams who choose to meet regularly at various locations.  Each base is a part of the larger YWAM family committed to the same values and principles.  For more information about YWAM’s structure please go to our international website at www.ywam.org.

What denomination is YWAM affiliated with?

Youth With A Mission is not affiliated with any one denomination but is made up of Christians from many denominations dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world.

What are YWAM’s beliefs and values?

Below are the documents that formally express the central values and beliefs of Youth With A Mission. Every YWAM location adheres to these basic beliefs.

What are the qualifications for attending 360?

The main qualification is that you have a relationship with God and are at a place where you to get to know Him more. The only other qualification is that you are 18 years old or have graduated high school (or secondary school).

How do I find out the status of my application to 360 Maine?

You can call our office at 207-284-4840 between 9 am – 4:00 pm EST or leave a message and we will call you back. You can also email us at info@360Maine.org.   We will gladly answer any of your questions and pray for any prayer requests you might have.

Will I be able to have a part-time job while attending this school?

Due to the rigorous curriculum and extensive schedule, we do not encourage students to seek a part-time job during their time here. This is a pass or fail full-time commitment and we expect our students to fully participate. Our schedule runs daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and while weekends are free, we often coordinate school activities or trips away.

If I am from the area, can I go home on the weekends?

Again, this school is a full-time commitment and we ask that students allow themselves to be fully here during these 8 months. Many students travel from other states and don’t have the opportunities to see their family and friends, so we encourage those who are local to be respectful of their peers and rather seek to cultivate relationships within the community. This is a unique opportunity for students to be able to disconnect from their world and have an environment where they can fully apply themselves to seeking God and discovering oneself. It has been our experience that what students put in is what they will get out.

Are there scholarships available?

We are a non-profit organization and even our staff does not receive a salary. Due to this, we do not have the funds to provide scholarships as much as we wish we could. If it were up to us, we would offer this for free! We encourage students to raise support among their circle of family and friends as well as in their local church.

Where will we be going for outreach, and how much will it cost?

Outreach locations typically are not determined until a few months in (around November). Each year, we pray together as a staff on where we should go and how the teams should look. The cost of outreach fluctuates as it is based upon the value of the dollar, price of airfare, and in-country cost of living. We try to keep the cost around $3500, but this estimate cannot be guaranteed.

Will I receive college credit?

Graduating students receive a credit through the University of the Nations (U of N) which is accepted by most Christian educators. Secular colleges and universities do not recognize this credit, but be sure to check with the admissions department of any school you wish to attend.

What would keep me from being accepted?

If you are currently using illegal drugs or have very recently come off of drugs this might not be the best place for you at this time.  If your grasp of the English language is not fluent enough for you to speak, read and write English easily.  We carefully pray over every application to see if this is the best time and place for each applicant.

I want to attend 360, but I am married and/or have children. Is that possible?

Most YWAM bases are set up to receive couples and families. 360 is an environment designed for single adults ages 18-24. We are not designed to accept couples or families. However, most other YWAM bases and DTS’s are made up of families.  You can check out other bases for more details.  Many bases offer child care for children while parents are in class.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, you are required to have a valid passport upon arriving to our school.

I am not from the United States. How do I apply for a visa to come?

Once you are accepted you will be given all the paper work to apply for a visa to come and take the DTS. This is not a guarantee that you will be granted the visa (some countries are more difficult to receive US visa’s than others).  Once we have determined where you will be going on outreach then we will take care of getting your visa for that country.

What should I bring?

Once you have been accepted you will receive an acceptance packet with a packing list that will clearly explain what to bring.  We ask that you bring only two suitcases as you will be sharing bedroom space with others.  Generally speaking you will have a half of a dresser and a portion of the closet for your belongings.  On outreach we ask that you bring only as much as you can carry.

Do I need medical insurance?

It would be best if you have insurance but it is not mandatory for your time in Maine.  We do not offer insurance, if you want it you would need to provide it for yourself.

What about insurance for the outreach?

We do require that you have insurance for outreach.  You can provide your own coverage or we can purchase at your cost, an inexpensive but good travel insurance.

I have a special health need. Can I still come?
We will try to work if at all possible to work with special needs, on a need by need basis. If you have food allergies, diabetes, are a vegetarian or whatever – as long as we are aware of the special need we will try to work with you.
